My dads firend is selling a 1992 firehawk for 3000 i was wondering is this a good buy the problems with the car are the interior is pretty bad......the body is almost perfect just needs repaint......or there is a 1992 camaro RS for sale in good shape for the same price interior is ok. t top doesnt leak and it has power locks and windows. what one is the better buy? i have never had a firebird but i own a 1992 z28. what is so special but the firehawk?

I doubt this is a real Firehawk, first, no-one keeps them so they get that run down, and most are in the $20k range. Not very many were made, do a search on 90-92 Firehawks and you'll learn about 'em.

agree with above, but if you post some pics folks on the board can tell you if it is the real thing, not to mention getting the vin number.

Yeah, if it turns out to bea TRUE Firehawk, it's worth many, many times that, even if the motor is blown. I'd buy it sight unseen, for that price! Good luck!

BTW, A RS isn't worth that much. Already had two, and the second I sold, was basically IROC susoension, 1 yr old paint, 87 only crosslace GTA wheels, good tires, full size GTA wheel spare, and I sold it for $2500.

Yeah, I paid $3k for my loaded GTA, 350 and TPI, BW rear, shift kitted tranny still under warranty.

$1500 to $2000...In GREAT shape, for a RS, yet I hate to de-value our cars.

NADA values are going up though. I guess because 3rd gens are starting to hit the "historical" mark

Just looked at NADA... 1992 RS Heritage Edition[

Although, my 92 wasn't a Heritage package, but NADA doesn't list it any other way.

If that Firehawk is a real one, which I'd doubt, then $3,000 is a great price. But until you findout, or even after you findout, if it turns out to be real, don't reveal your or its location, or someone else might buy it out from under you.

But post-up some pix and the VIN, if you can. People here can help you figure it out.

FWIW, I saw a Firehawk at the TA Nationals some years back that was ragged out. Whoever owned it didn't care for it at all.

Can you recall what # or options it had so I can try and verify this?

Thanks, Alex

I think we're all curious as to the outcome.

Real Firehawk or not?

Did the VIN reveal anything suspicious or the option codes? I suppose PHS could verify it, if it almost looked right.

Of course, if he dropped in a Vortec (truck) motor, that kind of ruins it.

Would it show Firehawk in the VIN though? It's only an option pakage. GTAs only show as Firebirds. I bet TTAs only show as Firebirds too.

Why is he saying it is a Firehawk, if it isn't? The intake alone should be a dead giveaway, if it isn't a REAL Firehawk..
