Are all TPI runners the same?
I have heard that 85-88 runners are different than 89-92 runners ... is this accurate? I need to replace mine and I have found a set but it is off of an 86. Thanks!

Another cosmetic difference is the finish on the runner itself. The Corvette runners and the LATE 92 F-car runners both have the rough wrinkle finish, whereas all the other thirdgens have the smooth finish. My 92 Z28 had the wrinkle finish because it was built in july of 92. Personally I like the rough finish better than the smooth finish, it matches the rest of the TPI finish very well.

Mine was built in April 92 and has the smooth runners. Strange.
fisherbody86 ... I think you can safely say that you have one of THE LAST third gens ever produced. July 92!!!! Wow.

My 87 has on it runners that do not have the cold start injector. When I first put them on I was baffled to why the car would not run, it would start and immediately die. What was happening is not only is the drivers side small tube for the COld start injector it is also the plumbing for the IAC.
Once I figured it out I took my Throttle body and milled out the center section like a 89-92 style Throttle body. Now I can run either set of runners.
I am not sure if the intake base on the 89-92's have the provision to actually install the drivers side runners from the 85-88 style. It would not surprise me either way, as I believe all they did was cover the hole in the base because IIRC there is a bolt that goes in the area anyways. I have an 89 Intake in the back I can peek at if I get time.
