87 camaro tach

Hey guys,

I am interested in purchasing an '87 Camaro Z28 with the LG4 motor. I just came back from viewing it and noticed that the tach and oil gauge are not working. The owner said that it stop working all of a sudden, so he installed another stock tach (which was working in another Camaro) and still does not work. So, he put back the original.

Did anyone experience this, or does anyone know if it is an electrical issue or does it have something to do with the ignition system? Does the oil gauge have anything to do with the igniition system? Or could it be a ground?

I really appreciate some assistance in this, as I would like to purchase this car, but I want to know if this is a minor thing.

Thanks in advance,

Benny

It sounds like bad wiring, but you can't diagnose that over the internet.

Might receive more assistance in the "electronics" section.

I did check the fuses and they seem to be fine. As I stated in my post, the owner did added a working tach from another Camaro and still does not work. I'm thinking that it could be a ground or perhaps that plastic piece that is inside the distributor.

What do you think?
