9K Tach on an 83 Firebird SE?

At the junkyard yesterday I found an 83 Firebird S/E with a near MINT blue deluxe interior. Anyways, I noticed the Tach on this car went to 9000 and it was definately stock. My 84 T/A Tach only goes to 6000. Does anyone know the reasoning behind this? The car had a V6 in it.

Thanks,
Joe

Must be the sooper-rare nascar tachometer.

Now, Cole, when you shift the gear and that little needle on the tach goes into the red and reads 9000 RPMs, that's BAD.

Aftermarket. There were a few companies that made aftermarket gauges for these cars in the 80's. (Like the 145mph speedo that says Z28 on it)
