Functionality of Hood Vents 82 Z28
My camaro has the hood vents that open up, when I bought my car is had been switched from the cross fire injection to carbed, so I never figured out how these vents worked, but what was the purpose of the hood vents? Did they open for any reason or were they just for show?
Thanks

yea I have them on my 83 crossfire. I am currently taking a vacuum motor and hooking it to the vents so I can get the affects of the induction system on my carb conversion.

If the air door assembly is complete, including the door solenoid, you could activate the solenoid using a micro-switch on the throttle linkage. This would be similar to a NO2 setup. My '83 still has a very nicely funtioning CFI setup, one that hasn't been tinkered with, and the air doors are neat touch. And you do get outside air into the air cleaner,as to any ram effect I'm not sure of,but you have to deal with water intrusion.
