84 Firebird Questions

I'm thinking about looking at a 84 Firebird. Southern car with approx. 78,000 miles manual transmission. Here's the downfall..... it's the 4 cyl. Is this thing even worth going to go look at?? There couldn't of been very many of these produced. Especially with the four banger. Any thoughts on this??

Thanks,

Bill

i dont know what info you're really looking for. There weren't many made, but they aren't desirable to most. It's up to you if a very slow 4 cylinder firebird will be enjoyable. For me, it wouldn't. If the body is in good shape and the price was right, maybe i'd go for it with the intention of doing an engine swap.

It'd be novel, but I wouldn't expect blinding economy, performance, or anything along those lines. GM 2.5's suck. If you've never driven one you really have no idea. They're about the scariest cars on the planet to pull into traffic. I've owned two (not in thirdgens) and neither could handle inclines on the interstate.

I really enjoyed mine, I got great gas mileage and I had plenty of power for what she had. I wish I would have kept it but I made some really good money for her.

Depends, is it a good deal? Click on my garage and see what I got for $2600, it's a V6, but hey I wasn't looking for a car to keep bone stock anyway. If I were, I'd have found a GTA.
Where are you located?

I had the 2.5L engine in my '84 Fiero...not too quick, good on gas though.
