My 86 Trans Am is two toned. From the RPO and paint code pictured below, I know the upper color is Bright Red. For some reason my RPO code sheet doesn't have the lower paint code. Am I missing it somewhere? Anybody know what the paint code is for the silver/grey lower paint on my car?

While the F-bodies I've had were not a 85 they were a 84 and presently a 82. The 84 was a red and gold car but it's paint codes were 75U-75L. My 82's paint code is 19U-19L but it's a black and gold car.

I've always wondered why it didn't show a different lower color. I think it's because lower paint codes are for true two tone cars for instance my 1982 corvette is a two tone car and carries two different paint codes can't remember them off hand. The car is white on top and silver on the bottom though (paint scheme much like a 78 vette pace car)

I believe the bottoms of our cars are considered a "accent color" which is why the early ones had the same lower paint codes and possibly the 85up's didn't even have a lower paint code.

Hmmm, you would think someone knows what color the silver is. I just want to get some touch up paint mixed up.

 

Just look up a silver color in paint books at like pep boys and for a 86 pontiac and you probably find the color & code

 

Not sure where you decoded your RPO's, but you might as well toss out all those definitions and start over.

 

My 84 also has different-colord ground effects, but the color codes are the same. I think that the upper and lower color codes refer to two-color paint jobs on the body itself, but the ground-effects are a painted separately and installed after the body is painted.
