the tonneu (sp?) release would have used the same swith as the hatch release, however there were no Factory authorised conversions in 86, they started in 87*.

*and before everyone gets all upidy, i know you can have verts from any year, i am simply reffering to VIN designated FACTORY authorised ASC verts.

Since the hatch release switch is visible I would guess it's for the rear wiper or the fog lights.Since you could get both in '86 on an IROC I don't know which got the location under the headlight switch. And in that picture I can't really make out the symbol on it.

As Xophertony mentioned regarding the release switch (hatch or vert), it's the one located between the power window switches (the 3 in a row). With my "fog" light switch under the headlight switch. I think (correct me if I'm wrong) they all were located there because of how the fog lights are integrated with the headlights (deactivated when the brights are on).

My guess is for the rear wiper as well. And it's only a guess because I've never had one.

The rear wiper switch on my 85 IROC is located at the left bottom of the dash (Note the foglight switch under the headlight switch):

Perhaps I'm incorrect, but the symbol in the original pic and the symbol in the wiper switch pic I provide appear to be very similair.

Re: What's this button?

The car is an 86 hardtop Z28, with a rear window wiper.

Re: What's this button?

From the looks of things it appears to be the rear window wiper switch, although the location is obviously different the labeling on the switch looks similar enough in the pictures to assume it as such...

Two speeds, if you count "off" as a speed.

One position for the wiper, one for the spray pump (press down and hold). Off is on the other side of the rocker. Here's a link with some info and pics:
