Any ideas what these are?

These two black plastic thingies are on the back of my 91 Formula. Never saw anything like this before and I cant see a purpose for them. We were guessing that they might be from when the car was originally shipped and the dealer never took them off. Maybe its for when i pull a sweet wheelie in my car so that I wont scratch my bumper lol.

Any ideas? And dont mind my lopsided exhaust, it looks even with the car on the ground.

Re: Any ideas what these are?

If you noticed you have those on the front also....It look like they are there to protect the gas tank incase of a collision, but that is my guess.

On a side note, how does putting you car back on the ground level out the exhuast?? The car is on a lift just like it would be on the ground(all 4 wheels are on the lift)???

Re: Any ideas what these are?

I havent seen any on the front, where are they located up there?

As far as the exhaust goes, its kind of an optical illusion of the picture that makes it look uneven. The tops of both pipes are the same distance from the body seam and side to side. I think it was just a weird angle, not so much that being on the lift is different then being on the ground.

Re: Any ideas what these are?

I can't say for certain, but I would guess they are for towing. Some Camaros have something like them under the nose and I had wondered about what they were for. Someone informed me they were there so a tow truck driver could stick a 2x4 block of wood between the car and the tow rig and not damage the GFX. Could possibly be the same idea for towing the car from the rear.. which would be better since it won't damage the transmission.

Re: Any ideas what these are?

Owning two thirdgens AND a towing company I can tell you there is no real easy way to tow a thirdgen. Flatbed is the best way and to avoid messing up the GFX long 2x4's stacked with shorter ones infront of the wheels are the only real way to get it up there without scrapping unless you have a hill you can use and the bed will tilt far enough to be able to use it.

I just bought a super chevy or chp or one of them and it asked the same question when they were installing bushings.
