Tuned Port Injection Bumper Emblem
I always thought that all models from 85 and up with Tuned Port Injection motors came with the "Tune Port Injection" emblem on the rear bumper cover. However recently i have seen on a couple websites that only 87 and up models had these emblems. I know that 87 and up had the 5.7 emblems but is it true that only 87 and up had just the TPI emblems?

Yup.
Iroc-Z's from . . .
'85 - '90 with the LB9 305 (5.0L) had
on the back bumper.
'87 - '90 with the L98 350 (5.7L) had
on the back bumper.
Anything outside of that and somebody's playing games and is swapping badges, which is easily done. Good idea to double check with the VIN.

Good point, if you include the later Z-28's. But he has an Iroc-Z and my comment above pertained only to the Iroc-Z's which weren't available after '90.

Re: Tuned Port Injection Bumper Emblem
Anyone know if the "tuned port injection" rear bumper badge ever came in black? Mine is black lettering and the thought they were all silver lettering... did a previous owner splash it black I wonder? It doesn't look right as car is black also...
I bought the silver badge for originality but now I'm second guessing myself...

They didn't originally come in black lettering. Depending on the color combination the lettering should be in silver, gold, or red.

Re: Tuned Port Injection Bumper Emblem
Just wanted to add that the only exception to this "tuned port injection" emblem being on the rear bumper of all TPI equipped IROC-Z Camaros would be on the "California" IROC-Z RPO (1C5) made in 1985. All 502 cars that were made came with the 305 LB9 TPI engine. Yet they didn't badge the rear bumper with "tuned port injection" as they did on all the others. This "tuned port injection" delete was done along with the spoiler, striping, and hood louver deletes to disguise the fact that it had a TPI LB9 engine. These are some of the features you look for on a genuine "California" IROC-Z.

Re: Tuned Port Injection Bumper Emblem
When did "tuned port injection" get replaced with "5.0 tuned port injection" on the 305 cars?

Re: Tuned Port Injection Bumper Emblem
Is the "5.0 Tuned Port Injection" Emblem for the Firebirds? I thought for the Camaros the 305 cars got the emblem that said "Tuned Port Injection" and the 350 cars got the emblem that said "5.7L Tuned Port Injection"?
