Not rare at all. Common items. As for 84, I don't think they came out until later.

No they are not particularly rare.
My 83 came with one. As far as I know they were available in later years as well.

They were available on just about every year, my 83 had them I think they were also available in 1982. They ran through 1992. Depending on the model it may be more or less rare, for example in 1987 they were NA on the GTA & TA with the 5.7L to save weight, but there easily installed.
I am not certain on the year but they changed the material of the shade. THe early ones were made from Vinyl, the later ones were more like cloth, they did not reflect the light as well, but they are more prone to fading.
THere was also an option for a lockable door area in the hatch area between the tail lights and the gas tank. I have seen fewer of these, as it appears that they were dropped around 1987 or 1988. To have BOTH is really rare as most people would have opted for one or the other, not both... I have seen a few cars with both, but I am not certain if one or the other was added. A similar panel was used on the Camaros equipped with BOSE.

I have one of those in my 87 IROC with the Bose system. And my friend has one in his 89 IROC with the Bose. And he even has the roll away thingy too. Adam :-)Originally Posted by okfoz
