Need help locating.....

pictures of a firebird. Mine has been repainted before I got it. Ran the RPO's and found out it's original color. If anyone can locate pics of one like this it would be much appreciated as I want to see it and may put it back. Thanks!

D86- Paint, Two-Tone, Deluxe
D98- Stripe, Accent
13U- Primary Color, Exterior, Bright Silver Met (91)
71A- Stripe color, accent, two tone, silver/red (91)
84L- Secondary color, exterior, hawaiian orchid (92)

one other thing, this A01 code, (window, tinted, all shaded, w/s)... I think it may be the blue-ish tint at the top of the windshield.

Re: Need help locating.....

Those colors are all wrong, the (91) and (92) next to them indicate the year, and according to your info you have a 86. I don't know the right colors, but those deffinately are not it.

Would the other numbers on the RPO sheet help? It was located in the console.

Make sure the VIN on the SPID(RPO)sheet matches your car's VIN.

I think you misunderstood, the RPOs are probably correct, however, the decoder you used is no correct. Like I said, I don't know the correct colors that match those RPOs, I only know that those RPOs don't match the color your car originally was GM reused RPO codes over the years, so you have to make sure you get the right description for your year.

Re: Need help locating.....

coolram, the VIN does match on it. In the lower left is BCCC and to the right of that, almost centered is WA- L7782 U9021 82B

Amorget, yeah I misunderstood. I thought you thought I was talking out of my butt

I'll ask around other places too, but any help locating the correct RPO's for THAT year?

Re: Need help locating.....

This is from the Camaro '82-'88 Parts Catalog for '86 exterior color codes(I know it's Bird)but most numbers cross;
Fisher code WA-7782 that crosses to GM code 84 Gunmetal Metallic -This should be your 84L(for lower)WA-L7782
Fisher code WA-9021 that crosses to GM code 13 Silver metallic - This should be your 13U(for upper)U9021
On the left side of the decal should be the BCCC - base coat/clear coat type of paint. This comes into play especially for van Nuys built cars with CA's stricter EPA laws.
I don't see your code 71A for stripe color(There is a code 74A Flame red stripe)
A01 is the code for all tinted windows
I hope this helps more than confuses. To read these code charts requires a law degree.

Man, that is awesome. I was confused at first, but read it again slowly and broke it down and got it. My car was Van Nuys built, so yeah the BCCC is in play. Would have never thought the bottom stuff was paint details. 71A is on the RPO sheet, but the end of the bottom is 82B which I found translates to TRIM COMBINATION, CLOTH, MED DK GRAY (91), which is what it is. Thanks for looking that up though. Wish I knew what the stripe color was. That's cool.

Re: Need help locating.....

Look what I found from back when I posted something along these lines back in like 01. I think that stripe color is still the same even though it says 91. So, is this it? Minus that is a TA and mine is just a 'bird.

Re: Need help locating.....

I'm glad it was of help. They way I wrote it was confusing in itself and I apologize for that.I should have stated it different on the base coat/clear coat though. It was actually the type of paint,ie lacquer, enamel etc, used was the concern at the Van Nuys plant.

Re: Need help locating.....

No problem. I've heard in the past that cars painted in Cali got the shaft in quality compared to ones built in Norwood, Ohio (which I don't live too far from and have seen the old plant).
