IROC VIN
Hey I need help fast!!!! I am looking at buying a '89 IROC this afternoon, but the VIN plate is gone and it has a VIN issused by the State of Indiana I am guessing. I want to make sure it is a real IROC, I have looked it over and can't find anything that doesn't match up with what an IROC should have but I am not a professional. I did not see an RPO sheet, is there something else I can look at or is there somewhere else where the VIN is posted? Thanks

Re: IROC VIN
Welcome to TGO first.
I would check with the state,if you haven't already, and make sure the car and title are clean. There's another member going thru a bad VIN situation now.On using the VIN the only way to tell is if the eighth digit(GM's VIN sequence) or engine desigination is F(LB9 305) or 8(L98/B2L 350).The 350 came only with an auto the TPI 305 could have auto or manual. If the tire decal is still on the driver's door and indicates 16" wheels that's another way.The stabilizer bar size and the presence of a "wonderbar"-front steering brace is another way.Check the Tech section of TGO and also thise site

for more info.Good luck and be careful.
