True. The 1987 and 1988 RS' were only available in certain markets and they only received the 2.8. 7,038 were made in '88. There is nothing special about them. 66,605 base model SC's were made in '88.

Not aftermarket product review related, moving to history board.

rare yes, collectible no. in 85 there was only about 1000 2.5l cars made, their worth their weight in scrap metal nothing more. the 87 and 88 rs are no different, their worth as much as any other 2.8 car.

I would not really consider 7000 units "Rare" I think Uncommon may be a better term.
Rare to me is 1500 or less Ever made. Considering that the SC in 1988 was identical except for the decals its basically a decal thing.
coldblooded is cold but correct in his assertion there is more to collectability than something "rare" it has to have desirability, most people want either a convertible or horsepower more than "rare".

sorry didnt mean to be cold, just blunt, lol, im the new owner of a 4cylinder a camaro that u practically have to pay people to take away, but neat no the less. A car is only worth as much as the owner or the buyer see's it to be..until u wreck it and the insurance company tells you your wrong

That’s why you have to agree with your insurance company on a value before you wreck it.
I’m one of the ones that would pay top dollar for a L4 if it was in like new condition but I’m probably in the minority. I’d have to agree with okfoz, uncommon is a much better decription.
