It looks like a Firebird S/E steering wheel to me too. The S/E's had steering wheels, gear shift, and hand brake handle that were color keyed to the interior.
That is exactly how the early Firebird leather wrap steering wheels look. The steering wheels with more of the metal spokes exposed where the standard molded rubber version.

Gotcha, did S/E stand for special edition?
Anyways, you guys are right, i never realized these wheels even existed, it makes it even more appealing to know they were factory. i ABSOLUTELY have to have it. I hope i can make it work with my 87 interior. Also, heres a pic i found from a member's posting off this website. Its just gorgeous.

Yep. S/E stood for Special Edition although there was really nothing S/E about them as in regard to REAL Special Edition cars like the limited production Recaro T/A and Anniversary T/As. It was the middle model of the Firebird and replaced the luxury Esprit and lightweight performance Formula models of the previous 2nd-gen Firebird. The S/Es came standard with most luxury items and many of the T/A performance options were available.
