Hose Clamps
I am going to change all the coolant hoses over on my 1987 Formula LG4. Does anyone know what GM used in 1987 as original hose clamps? Some of the clamps have been changed over the last 21 years to the conventional worm type clamps. I am wondering if the clamps you squeeze together with channel locks are the correct clamps? If so anyone know where I can get a supply of original clamps?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Hose Clamps
Thanks for the replies. I can see them. They are similar to the worm gear but they are two wires. Do you know if I can still get those from GM? By the way that engine bay looks OUTSTANDING. Mine is on the way to looking like that, only a few more pieces of the puzzle to replace/clean up. My car is white so it is pretty tough to get that underhood spotless.

Re: Hose Clamps
GM seemed to use the thin wire clamps on the radiator hoses for most of the the 3rd-gen run. I have seen tower clamps on some '82s.
I have only seen worm gear clamps on the heater hoses but the width of the band is a little narrower than what is usually available at the auto parts stores. The coolant diverter valve(above pass valve cover) will sometimes have one-time-use metal pinch clamps rather than worm clamps. A friend's '87 LG4 IROC has the pinch clamps so maybe thats what was used that year.
I would guess that the GM over the parts counter replacement clamps were the standard worm gear clamps. There should be tons of the correct thin wire radiator clamps still in the salvage yards. You could clean them up and get them replated or hit them with a dull silver paint and they should look good as new.

Re: Hose Clamps
Thanks for the reply. I am headed to the yard this weekend, weather permitting. I plan on picking up some clamps, different styles and sizes. I was there this past weekend and ran out of time but I did score some nice parts.
