Re: gunmetal Gray GTA
If you goto http://www.gtasourcepage.com Frankie has all the breakdowns of RPO codes for the GTA's, however I can't recall if it covers just the GTAs or the T/A and GTA together.

It sure does. The site says 930 GTA's were made in Gun Metal Gray in 1988. Look under RPO codes.

Re: gunmetal Gray GTA
The following are the codes and corresponding production numbers for each exterior color available for the 1988 Trans Am GTAs:
40U -- Exterior Color, White -- 1,957
41U -- Exterior Color, Black -- 2,129
74U -- Exterior Color, Flame Red Metallic -- 2,809
81U -- Exterior Color, Bright Red -- 1,940
87U -- Exterior Color, Gunmetal Metallic -- 930
That site has the most compiled list of info for GTAs out there, excellet point of reference....we take our GTA's seriously.

Re: gunmetal Gray GTA
No, the way Pontiac kept totals of options was to record the total number of installations for each separate option. To my knowledge, combination totals were not recorded.
As to your question, you can tell how many '88s were L98, how many were LB9, and how many were T-top.... but not how many Gunmetal cars were made with any of those options.

Re: gunmetal Gray GTA
The 350 was pretty much the standard engine for the GTA's as for t-tops, all of the 305 cars could get t-tops, the 350 cars couldn't (or was very rare to get) until 89. All of the GTAs had the WS6 suspension, whether they were 305 or 350.

Re: gunmetal Gray GTA
The U52 dash was a popular option in '88 on the GTA.... more were produced with the digital cluster than with the analog cluster. The 1987 figures do not differentiate between T/A and GTA, so they are harder to break down; the 1988-1992 GTA figures were recorded separately.

Re: gunmetal Gray GTA
Well, no, every GTA regardless of color would have been WS6 and the majority would have likely been 5.7L cars, as that was the standard engine. The T-tops were available in 1989 only with the 5.7L engine in the US; there are some 1987 Canadian-bound GTAs that have the two options together, but I've not seen any US-spec cars that do.

1987 was the only year when the GTA model could really be de-contented.

Re: gunmetal Gray GTA
Not sure what constitutes "plain jane" to you, but the '88 GTAs were fully contented from the factory. There were only six options offered: U52 dash, CC1 hatch roof, LB9 5.0L TPI, leather seat trim (coded by color), AA8 notchback, and UQ7 speaker system. All other equipment regularly usually thought of as "options" was standard equipment.

I meant it has the base(non leather) interior, analog dash, hardtop L98 car, base speaker system, etc. so it doesn't have alot of the GTA specfic options Supreme Member

Re: gunmetal Gray GTA
does it have the GTA seats? Those were still top of the line seats. Mine didn't have the UQ7 speakers system in it. The GTA was a top of the line car, but all of the options on the GTAs could also be on a standard Trans Am as well.
