Did the LU5 have flat tops?
I'm trying to find out if my 83 Z28 has flat tops or not. I haven't torn it down that far before and I wouldn't know what to look for anyway. I was looking at the tech articles and I noticed that the LU5 and L69s have the same compression ratio. It's my understanding that the L69 has higher compression because of flat tops. So is it safe to assume that my engine has flat tops as well?

Re: Did the LU5 have flat tops?
IIRC the replacement Part numbers for the long block less the intake was the same for both the LU5 and the L69... So the Heads, Block, Crank, Pistons, crank, & believe cam were all the same.
The LG4 had different heads & I think different pistons.
