Does this change the perceived value of all of the birds? I know the Chevelle, Cuda and some others never came back and look at their rise in value. Maybe we can count on the limited production birds raising in value.
I still think that if GM can take the XLR and make 4500 or so units/yr then why cant they do it with the T/A. Just make a monster of a car and figure on selling low #s. I know economy of scale and all that business model BS comes into play but where there is a will there is a way.
I thought Pontiac was all about excitment. Then make something exciting with the 5th gen bird and folks will buy it. I guess we need a Phoneix and not a Firebird Huh.

Yep I know the gas prices has a lot to do with it. I tell you it sucks. It really makes you want to go choke some sense into some folks. I still think limited run cars could work.
What if GM allowed Ponitac to invest their own money into this car. Its been done before. Ive seen in doumentaries where upper level engineers/execs hid projects which turned into great autos. What about the Yenko, Mecham, Bandit, hell the GTA, the SD-T/A. Some dealers and race guys found ways to make cars more exciting.
GM is managing >20 mpg from the Vette, they are getting >30 from a darn Impala. Why cant they make a performance 5th gen fuel friendly and still perform. Was not these same cries heard in the early to mid 70s?
If you look at that Chevy Volt it actually looks sporty. Folks want a fun car and thats that. Yea we have to have the mini-vans and pickup trucks but I believe there is a place for the T/A.

Actually I hear that many LS1 cars get upwards of 30 Mpg THats incredible. My mothers ROADMASTER when she got it after 10K miles got 33 Mpg on the highway... Heck they used to know how to do it so what is up with GM and fuel economy? I think they only want to tune until it meets the requirements and say thats good enough.
Unfortunately 5th Gens are not third Gens.
