Is this Camaro a 350?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevr...spagenameZWDVW

I was looking at this car on Ebay and its 8th Vin Digit is an "H" which I thought designates a 350TPI, But if you look in the picture it shows a TBI/Carb looking motor....am I missing something?
----------
Well, I guess the "H" must be a 305 carb...what letter designates the 350?

WRONG... .. The discription is correct for a 1987 IROC-Z with the standard LG4 305 with a carb.

If it was a 350 car the 8th digit would be an 8=5.7 TPI

From it's looks the mileage is believable. Very clean sharp ride. Not highly optioned and with a 165-hp 5.0. Odd they don't provide any details.

Re: Is this Camaro a 350?

In 1987 you could get a Camaro Vert in Two flavors 1) LB9/M5 or 2) LG4/A4. To my knowledge there were no other combos... No V6 cars, No LB9/A4, No LG4/A4 cars and obviously no "Authorized" L98 cars.

Right on. The LG4 4bbl (H) was the base engine on the Iroc in '86.

I meant the 5 speed only LB9 in 87

The point was he thought "H" was the 350 TPI code. HE was wrong and was corrected. No reason to freak out

Re: Is this Camaro a 350?

The problem inlies with the efficency of the Engines in 1987. Because the cars were right on the limit for Fuel economy the LB9/A4 would have dipped below their estimates for fuel economy in a vert because the Vert is heavier and not quite as as Aero frendly. If they did offer it the A4 would have been about $1200 more to buy because of Gas guzzler taxes (which I do not understand as every time you fill up you give more to the Govt anyways so why shoudl they get something off the top too?)

This explains why the L98 was never offered directly but does not explain why the V6 was NA in 1987, might have had to do with Crash tests with the V6 in a Vert...

This is my argument to why Ponitac did not offer directly a Vert until 1991 when they lightened the body a little and made it more aero friendly.
