question for my 87

the door says manufactured 7 of 87, and my dad has worked for gm for over 30 years, he maintained theese cars under warranty, he said according to the door, its an 88, the vin on the door matches the car, and the title says 87 camaro. is it an 87 or an 88, in my oppinion, its an 88, but numbers say 87, let me know if you disagree or agree about this being an 88, thanks

Re: question for my 87

Keep in mind that next-year models come out in late summer/fall. For example, by late 87, you would have been able to buy an 88 model. The VIN number doesn't lie, whatever year the VIN says it is, is it. It sounds like it's an 88 model, made in late 87. Did your car originally have V-belts, or a serpentine belt? 87 was the last year for v-belts, before they switched to serpentine - that would be another way to tell.

the origional engine had v belts, and sence im using another motor, i need a ps pump v belt if anyone has one, lol, its just a project car, and we went to get the u joint for the drive shaft, its aluminum, and the guy i got the car from said its the origional drive shaft off that car, but the first 2 u joints didnt fit, so we had to get the one that was sized for what we needed, and who knows what that was off of. does anyone know if they did come with them stock in 87??? and is there some way to find the manufacture history or order something for it, also an actual book that came with the car, ive never seen one, do they come with them like other cars, or no?
