91 model year with 3/90 production date?
91 model year with 3/90 production date?
My GTA is a 91 and was built on 3/13/1990. Seems awful early for a 91 MY. IIRC there was a UAW strike back in 90 or something like that. Anyone know when they actually started the 91 model year build?
Trying to get some background on this car. See if there's anything special about this.
Thanks
Mark

Did you read the FAQ, History, and Tech Articles section?
GM didnt get the IROC race sponsorship after 1989, it went to Dodge instead for 1990. So GM could not call any cars "IROC" after Dec 31st, 1989. So they stopped the 1990 model year at that time, and started making the 1991 model year cars early.

Re: 91 model year with 3/90 production date?
I know the '91s went on sale in the spring of 1990 but the exact date escapes me; those restyled models were marketed for well over a calendar year. The actual "1990" models were only on sale for about six months or so before the changeover, IIRC.
The Firebird order sheet I have for 1991 is dated 07/90.... and it's the 4th printing.

Frankie, if you have any more 91 GTA specific info besides what's on the SourcePage can you share it with me? I am putting together a display sign for the car for the TA Nats and it's not that rare of a car just by the numbers and options, so I want to have some tid bit of info that would make someone go "hmmmm"
Thanks
