Ok ran across a few online type up "how-to"s and one mention about a third gen camaro haveing a stock steering wheel with radio controls on it. So did they really have steering wheel controls in the thirdgen camaro back in the day or is this another fake?

 

Yes, it's true but only on GTA's 88-90.

Yeah, it's actually only 88-89.

 

IIRC, ALL 1990-92 F-Bodies had the airbag steering wheel with no provisions for radio controls.

 

Can an 88 with no steering wheel control buttons have one put in with the right radio for it?

 

Yes, with a little wiring. You'll need to replace the horn contact ring, since there are extra copper rings on it for the steering wheel buttons. You'll also need to get the wiring harness that goes from that contact ring to the radio.

 

Here's on from my 89 GTA I used to have. The steering wheel it fits is long gone, but I still have the radio control pod, if anybody is interested...
