Well i got a 89 iro z28 that im looking for a 305tbi... so i found a 1986 z28 with a 305tpi... the car had been sitting for more than 10years.. paints bad but what i noticed is that its got a aluminum shell or kinda a cover which says SILVER BULLET EDITION with a signiture from al unser jr.(just a print) and a little race car on it.. this car is from New mexico.. Im not sure if i should part it out or restore this vehicle .. anyone with info help me out

 

Looks like Al Unser Jr was the Champion of the 1986 IROC Race.

Maybe chevrolet put out some special edition cars for it. I'm searching the internet. Its interesting so far.

 

yes i found that out too.. its very intresting maybe would it be a player car like some people say there's are ... how exactly would i find that out???

as im only 20.. the cars older than me.. but ive love this 3rd gen camaros... i didnt know there was this much in history in each year....

 

There is a sticky on this board about players choice stuff but I've never heard anything about signature editions cars. it looks as though that 1986 was the 10th aniversary of the IROC races so possible Chevrolet released a few Special Edition cars with that badging for it. A few would be it though as I can't find anything at all on the internet other than that Al Unser Jr was the champion of the 1986 Race.

i couldnt find any RPO code numbers or stickers on this camaro since the interior is completely weatherd out... the pass window was broken when i bought it but the vin does have 1fp87 like the player sticky said... idk where to go from there?? should i repair the car????

 

If some history is found you should document the car, clean it up and either fix it or sell it. I bet some race buffs would love to have the car.

 

Well being the Unser's are from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Maybe some local dealership had some special edition Camaro's made up in commoration of Little Al's IROC championship. Just a guess.
