Those are very nice cars... I would definitely take the LT5 Camaro...colors are interesting but the LT5 is one of the strongest engines ever produced... I'd be eating up LS1 and LS6s left and right!

I call dibs on twin turbo TA. No Since I am a college student please will someone else grab that! I will hunt it down later in life. Anyway I hear that GM might buy back a bunch of the cars later when and if they ever get back into the black. From past experience cars in the early stages never sell for much money. I would say no higher than 30,000 for each with maybe the Twin Turbo TA taking the most with the kammback a close second. OFC there will be some guy who will pay a sh*tload for yet another KR replica.

Wow, they are selling the LT5 Camaro!! That would be an awesome car to have. I hate the colors but it is worth it just for the motor and its historical value; you could learn to accept the color.

So the T-TTA isnt a custom car? Was it produced by GM?
I was watching BJ today, and the customs didnt go for as much as i though. 50's mercs, and other completely modified rods brought in around 30-50k.

in that case, i could only guess what they would go for. They arent as old as some of the other classics around, but a 1 of a kind factory made car would probably go for alot. Who ever bought it, probably wouldnt drive it, and it probably isnt very driveable now if it just came out of the GM museum.

Factory didn't build it a bunch of real car guys at GM did. I would say it would need a lil TLC but they drove the hell out of it. Motor Trend tested it alongside other prototypes. This car was the performance King of the Hill of that test.

It's funny that in 1990 the Bright Purple and Green were cool, does anybody remember Dirtbike gear from that era????? Bright Fluorescent Colors were everywhere!!!

Auction starts this Tuesday January 13/2009.
Anyone else wanna start guessing @ what these cars will bring....
I think it'll go something like this...
1st place Goes to the LT5 Camaro ($50,000+) Due to the All Aluminum -Rare Powerplant.....
2nd place Kamback just slightly ahead of the TT because it's soooo one off(40,000+)
3rd place the TT Trans Am because you could build one yourself ($40,000+)
4th place KiTT Replica because I don't think that there is a market for it($10,000- $15,000 TOPS)
I wonder if Speed Channel will cover the whole day?

I'll be honest, I think you're too optimistic. I don't know if they'll go for that high, simply because of the crumy economy and the fact they are thirdgens....

I think that Third gens are "right around the corner" as far as the collectables go. The first and second gens are out of reach for most of us.....
The only reason that I think they will go that high is that they are "Factory Made Special Vehicles" if you wanna call them that.
You couldn't make that Kamback if you wanted too!!!!!
The other 3 are a possible with enough ingenuity and $$$$$

Hate to chime in but I'm dying to own the 1991 Twin Turbo Trans Am. I tried
everything to pull out the stops to visit but couldn't make the auction due
to time and finances.
I'll never forgive myself if someone steals that car..... It'd sure look purdy next to the Hawks and the FireAm.
The LT5 Camaro is kool, but that paint job.... IMO it's the perfect 1980's car as it sums up the decade perfectly. It should come with a pair of parachute pants and a lime green jacket.

That camaro is an old concept car, it's got the same LT5 as the ZR1 corvettes came with, and I'm pretty sure it's got independent rear suspension as well.

I dont think the Third Gens will ever be a collector car. Too many were made and they had a bad rep, and sitting in every trailer park dosent help either. They have no collector value and alot will have to hit the junk yards before they are appreciated. I think in between 81 and 2001 there will always be a low demand. I dont think any of them will go much over 20 grand and thats generous.

Majority won't make it past that mark for 20 more years. Desirable ones are already well past 20k. There was a third gen that almost sold for 6 figures last year.....

Around here, a nice third gen can easily go for over $10 grand. Many have low milage due to our winters...... those that were winter driven have never survived.
I won't say that a 82 firebird will sell for $10,ooo bucks but a nice GTA will go for that and then some.
I must say that the "Top Shelf" 87-92 Third Gens get more than their fare share of oogles at the "Sunday" cruise nites.... probably cause you don't see many of them.
My town has a population of around 600,000-700,000 people, and I bet there are 6 GTA's in town. With that being said we have a large # of CAR enthusiasts who cruise the strip every weekend.
Only time will tell what these cars bring.

That's why I'd take the LT5 car over the others. It screams 80s!!! I remember when that car was first released. (I hated it!!!) Of course, if you took that car out now people would laugh at you but that was totally the style back then. I was never a fan of crazy paints jobs and other 80's styles but I'd take it and park it as a monument to the 80's!!! However, I'm not sure if I could handle that interior for long.

The auction starts Tuesday, so no pricing has been done yet.
Also, can the naysayers that believe the 3rd gens will never be worth anything, keep that belief to yourself? You're only starting the same argument again and again. It's already been proven that the value of some 3rd gen cars have increased to levels above where other generations have increased at the same age. A 20 year old 3rd gen can be worth more percentage wise than a 20 year old 2nd gen was at 20 years.

For the last couple of years SpeedChannel has broadcasted about 8-10 hours of Auction Daily IIRC......
So hopefully we get to watch the bidding on these specific cars....... We'll know by the end of the first day what they all went for.....so keep your fingers crossed and we'll be able to see it go down!
I like to watch the bidding, and hear what the speed crew has to say about all the particular cars. I'm sure that they won't be as well versed as they are for some of the other "Muscle Cars" but fun just the same.
Oh ya and for those that don't get to watch real time the website posts the prices of the cars within seconds of crossing the Block. So if you refresh the page often you'll know exactly what each went for.

That 87 Black GTA with 11,000 miles sold for $30,800!!!!
I don't think that a collector with any knowledge of these cars would let them go........ Should be interesting!

11 pm here Tuesday night and at #92 on the list. Doubt if the third gens will show on the tv. Be interesting to see those.

Ok, who's the guy that bought the twin turbo car? I bid $42k on it.... and that was WAAAY past where I wanted to go, but had to have it for the collection. Just couldn't muster $44k. Can't wait for the LT5 to come up...
