Hi,

I am trying to find out more about a car that I can't see in person. I have asked the seller to find the SPI sticker in the console glove box. Isn't this where it should be located? Guy can't find it, I don't think it's removed, he's just not looking in the right spot

 

4 possibilities......

Inside bottom of the console lid...
Inside bottom of the rear "glove box" lid
Under the carpet

Or just thrown away....It was fairly common (it seems) that people o the assembly line just threw them away, instead of putting them in the car. My 87 GTA seems to be one of those last option cars, no SPID.

You mean in the rear/hatch storage area opposite the spare tire compartment?

ALL SPID sheets were installed in the center console from the time GM started using them in 1984 thru mid 1991. Starting in 1991 they moved them to the rear hatch area except the verts where I believe they remaind in the center console.

Thats where they were SUPPOSED to be put. But have also been found just tossed in, then the carpet put in over them. Unlikely, but possible & a last effort.

 

The SPID label was never just thrown in. You are thinking of the build sheet. Those were not always in the car. The SPID sticker should be under the lid of the center console or on the side of the center console.

 

Ah yes...Build sheet. Your right. Thats what I was thinking of.

But I've never heard of a SPID on the side of the center console. IN the console or rear "glove box", but not on the side.

 

Mine is on the passenger side, inside of the glove box. I can see it clearly while sitting in the drivers seat.

 

My SPID sheets are all on the passenger side of the center console when you lift the lid.

I can't make sense of neither of ya'lls descriptionsof where ya'll are seeing it.

With regards to the console, I've only seen it INSIDE, stuck to the bottom of the lid, meaning you can't see it, until you OPEN the lid.

Both of ya'lls (scottmoyer/okfoz) descriptions don't make sense o me. Do ya'll mean INSIDE, bottom of the lid, or ?????????

 

Nope, ALL THREE of my SPID sheets are on the INSIDE of the compartment NOT ON THE LID, when you open it the tag is on the Passenger side staring at you. If you have any junk in there you can not read it... ALL of the SPID sheets that I steal from junkyards are located there. Not like they are worth anything...
