Ok so I'm confused. I thought there was only 1 4 speed manual trans for the 82-83 Camaro's. However upon purchasing the Dealership service manual for 1982 Camaro's there were 2. One was a 76mm Borg Warner Super T-10 4 speed. The other an 84 mm Muncie 4 speed. Who knew?

 

There were actually three different 4-speed manual trasmissions used in the 3rd-gen. In '82 the I4 and V6 cars used a Saginaw model. The V8 cars used a Borg Warner ST-10 up until 7/82 when they ran out of them and then used Saginaw transmissions. The Borg Warner T10 plant had already been converted to make FWD transmissions. The V8 4-speed combination was more popular than they had planned.

Starting in '83 the Borg Warner T-4 was installed except for a short time in '84 when there were supply problems and the Saginaw transmission was substituted.

After '82, only the I4 engine was available with a 4-speed manual trans. The last year for the 4-speed manual was '85.

 

Cool stuff man, I'm guessing my 82 Z has the Super T-10 aluminum case cast iron side cover. Any ideas on shifter rod adjustment she wont go into 2nd, it acts like there isnt enough travel to lock it in.
