Raising an 86 T/A from the dead
So, I decided when my son turned 14, it was about time to get him off the Nintendo and into the garage, so I started looking for a project car. A couple months back, I found an 87 T/A on Craigslist for $600. It wasnt running, but I couldn't pass it up. Body was a little rusty, but thats the point of a project, right? It came with another 87 parts car that was mainly a frame and a dash board. And a set of doors.
Took me about 10 minutes to get it running. The fuel relay had vibed lose. Been driving it ever since.
Then, a couple weeks ago, this one showed up on Craigslist. 86 T/A with an engine fire. Body is in SWEET condition. So I figured, put the two of them togethr, so I plopped another $600 down on the shell.
I bought the car pretty much without looking over it, I just wanted the body. Then I started checking it out. Disc rear. Edelbrock intake. T-tops. Hooker super comp headers. Dual exhaust. Ported and polished heads.
Strip it hell, I'm rebuilding this one! The engine compartment and dash took a pretty good hit in the fire, but I already have most of the parts to rebuild it, even without stripping the 87. The xtra frame came with a good dash, and the doors I need for the 86. Amazing how that worked out.
I'm planning a host of mods for the interior. I'm an electronics tech by trade, and I work for an LED manufacturer. So all LED interior lights, probably in RGB's, which will be programmable. Basically, like a newer Mustang, where you will be able to change the interior lights to whatever shade you want by turning a **** or two.
I'm adding some lights, footwell lighting, door pull lights, puddle lamps. Should be very nice. Heres some pics of the project.

Re: Raising an 86 T/A from the dead
The rims are some kind of American Racing Cobra reproductions. Unfortunately, they didnt come with the car. Had to give em back.
My son is excited about the IDEA of working on the car, less enthusiastic about the actual work. He doesn't like to get his hands dirty. What the hell is WRONG with kids nowadays???1
