I'm looking into getting a 92 JY Formula with a black cloth interior. The car is in excellent condition with a little over 150K miles. I have a pic of the RPO sticker.

It was originally an LB9/T-5, but now has a 350 TPI. Still has the original black crosslace wheels. It's got J65, WS6, CC1, and N10.

What's a ball park value of a car like this?

 

Is it the JY car currently posted in the for sale section? Repainted a brighter yellow? Original engine is gone and no telling the real accident history. Have you seen it in person?


I'd say $2,500 tops from the pic's I've seen. Kool car but no real collector value IMO. .

 

Yes, I've seen it in person several times, been in it, under it, and over it with a fine tooth comb.

The plan would be to take it back to visually original, correct bumper, hood, and paint.

 

I agree wih t-towner, no more than $2500 if it needs a repaint and not an original motor car.

The way I had it figured...

add $2500 for Quality Paint and supplies (based on the last time I did a paint job MYSELF) PLUS the price of a decal set, not too expensive in the long run... AND the time to do the job...

I would still end up with a 150K mile nice car.

Personally I have a Front bumper, headlights and everything that I would need to put the car back to original on hand. It was just too much work for the $5K+ that he is asking... It is a great looking car IMHO, but too many unknowns...

If the car had the original bumper, and was in the original JY color W/original type decals (repainted or not) I would have been more likely to be all over it... 350 is not a huge deal breaker because it has a lot of miles anyways.

Thanks for your help. I was looking at the car for my Father-in-law. He is primarily interested in a 2nd gen T/A since he fell in love with my '79, but he likes my '91 too. Due to the fact of the rarity of the JY Formulas I thought it might be a good one for him to get. He has a friend that does amazing paint/body work that would put it back to the correct color for free once we sourced a correct nose and hood. I thought it might have some collector value once it was put back to at least original looking.

The car is actually a very, very nice car. It belongs to a member of my local thirdgen club. I'll relay the information that yall provided to my F-I-L and see what he decides to do.
