Hey I'm new and wanting to get started in the forums
Hi I'm an ex-Honda driver and decided I wanted a muscle car. So I just recently bought a fairly rusty Firebird and I'm wanting peoples opinions on the first mod or piece to restore once I'm done the pain to make that car that much nicer. This car seems stock and it comes with a parts car giving me the option of either 5speed or 3speed auto, Tilt or solid steering column, and it doesn't have a stereo but I'll just rip the one out of my civic :P and put the stock back in that little thing. Cheers.

Welcome to the boards,
This is how I would prefer to do a resto job.
1) pull everything off of the car, Engine, trans, interior etc, then start patching holes
2) Rebuild your engine & Trans get it ready
3) Start with straightening and painting
4) Install freshened Interior
5) Install Trans & Motor
Honestly, without trying to be rude, the car looks like a nice candidate as a parts car. There are some deals out there right now where you could get a better car for what you will have invested into this one. I paid $1100 for my Yellow Formula (on the right of my sig) by the time I invested in new seat covers, repaint rebuilt engine, and rebuilt transmission I was at $7000 with the price of the car. I could have bought a really nice car for $7000 back in 1998... I did learn a ton about my car and what I learned was indispensable, but it would have been cheaper to buy one done and drive it....
Try the link below, you will find a ton of cars, You can change some things to refine your search... Keep in mind great deals do not last, I waited 1 day too long on too many cars...

Re: Hey I'm new and wanting to get started in the forums
Thanks for the info. And I agree with you about the whole, "it would be cheaper to buy a new car", my and I girlfriend are getting into this for the fun of it. Also my location needs to be taken into account, I would never find a car in my area that is completed for cheap. My city in comparison to LA or New York is unbelievably small, population is 42,000 and cars rarely go under $5,000 unless they have "serious" damage. But yeah I wouldn't be insulted or anything if you just straight up said it should be a parts car, I'm happy to hear constructive criticism.
The bonus is asides to the surface rust, it drives great.

Don't forget that you don't have to buy a car in your town. Airfare is cheap in comparison. There are also a lot of people on this board willing to look at a car in areas close to them for you. You have the entire country as a resource and locator.
