Need some opinions please
Ok a friend of mine, her nephew has a 85 berlinetta he wants to get rid of so he said $200 for it since it has been sitting for about 6 - 10 years and will need some work, bodys not bad a little surface rust and a fifty cent piece rust hole other then that the body looked solid, floor boards from what i could see need some work! Would you take it for $200??

Re: Need some opinions please
Without knowing too much about the car - obviously - if it was a V6, the return on a restoration will be minimal. On the other hand, a V-8 combo and with minimal rust might be worth something.
So, pics? $200 seems a great deal. How does the engine look and the interior? The rest is a relatively quick fix.

I forgot my camera when i went, but it has the 2.8 in it which he said it ran before he parked it, i mean i have a 350 sitting waiting to be rebuilt, im not stresssing the 6 in it i can swap it over to the 8, i will be in contact with him shortly to set something up, cause if the floor boards are rotted out i can part it out too...some money off of it! will get pics of it soon! Thanks

I can almost guarantee that after sitting for 6+ years, an engine swap is a good idea. If that 2.8 hasn't been run somewhat regularly over that time, it is likely shot or will need at least a rebuild of seals and gaskets, etc. For a car that has been neglected that long, $200, if it's salvageable, would seem reasonable. To make that car as good as Camaro's that go for around $4000 that are in good too real good condition, would cost you WAY more than just buying one of those.
What you want to achieve vs what you can afford, will be what you need to focus on.
Good luck.

Re: Need some opinions please
If it has the digital dash and things are not working perfectly, they can be a pain to troubleshoot and repair. All of the AC controls are electronically controlled as are the headlights/wipers etc. Replacement parts in good working order can be difficult to find for not only the electrical parts but the dash plastics as well, which are Berlinetta specific. A member here, John in RI, can provide some help with the berli specific stuff.
A performance build to a berli will also require some effort. They usually came without rear sway bars nor the triangular k-member braces. They'll have the low effort steering box and a compound, soft tranny mount.
