Color Code

Anyone know the color code for the gunmetal grey. I have a 87 GTA and would like to get it painted but just wanna make sure I have the correct color. I have looked in the known locations for the code.

yeah the code is (gm code 87 ) wa.no 9243 1/2 oz. tube #12345166 5oz. spray # 12345167 hope this helps

Actually, the Gunmetal Metallic Code 87/WA9243 replaced the earlier Gunmetal Metallic Code 84/WA7782 sometime in 1987. I have been unable to determine the switchover date for the GTA.

According to the Third Printing of the 1987 Firebird Car Order Worksheet, the GTA was initially offered with the Code 84/WA7782 Gunmetal Metallic and Code 82 Gray interior only.

If you have the original service parts ID sticker in place (either in the center console or in the rear hatch compartment), you can get the codes from that..

I've attached a sample SPID sticker that explains how to decode the paint codes:
