Weird 1992 RS

I have a base 92 RS (only ps and pb) originally was a 3.1 and now has a 350tpi and a t5.
For the interesting part, The build date is 08/92 the sn# is 164898. On top of the passenger side strut tower, it is stamped Z28 1072.
Can anybody tell me if this is normal or was this car a quick throw together at the end of production?
Thanks.

Re: Weird 1992 RS

This is not weird at all, it is normal for these cars, 99% of all of them were interchangable. I have a 1986 IROC-Z with a spoiler from a 1988 IROC, taillights from a 1985 IROC, an engine from a 70's Chevy tow truck, which was most likely not even original to that specific truck.

Soon I will have a piece of rear hatch glass from a 1988, so I do not have the holes where the CHMSL was mounted, I was also thinking of getting the 1988 and up style IROC wheels, maybe not though.

These cars are mutts, everything was changed around. Only a couple originals survived. Even that 1985 IROC that was stored for years and years and years, that they found with 4.6 miles, interior still had the plastic cover from the factory, on the interior, yet it did not have original wheels.

Re: Weird 1992 RS

I think a picture would be helpful... there are so many stampings, castings and numbers on these cars that it is hard to really say what it is. It may be a date stamp. As far as I knew there were no differences between any 3rd gen on the strut towers. They were all the same.
