Information on the "1LE"

I read this from "another site" earlier today. Has me wondering, is my Camaro a 1LE.

In 1992 Chevrolet built 705 Camaro's with "1LE" special performance components equipment for 1992. As in 1989, 1990, and 1991, Ordering the RPO G80 Limited-slip rear axle & G92 RPO 1LE was triggered by RPO G92. RPO G92 required either the 305ci LB9 V8 with 5-speed manual, or the 350ci B2L V8 with 4-speed automatic transmission. When ordered with air conditioning ($466), RPO G92 included engine oil cooler, 4-wheel disc brakes, and dual-converter exhaust. Without air condition*ing ($675), RPO G92 added heavy-duty front brakes, aluminum drive shaft and spare wheel, special shocks and fuel pickup, and gas tank baffle. Fog lamps were deleted for weight savings and better air flow to the radiator. Available for Z28 Coupes only.
The reason I am curious is because I have the G92 and G80 options. I am a Z28 Coupe, BUT I do have fog lights.

Can a veteran help me out a bit. How do you know exactly. VIN combo, Combo of RPO's. The site said that not all 1LE's had the RPO code.

A thought to ponder. Why does the forum spell checker not understand the word Camaro? Add to forum dictionary, lol.

Unfortunately I doubt you have a 1LE. Quickest way is to look at your RPO sticker, 1LE should be there (B4C could be there too). That site you quoted has caused confusion before with the way it's worded.

I'll let someone more knowledgeable answer your 1LE question, but our forum does not have any spell checker installed. If you're using a spell checker, it's most likely browser-based. For example, FireFox (popular web browser) comes with the built-in option to automatically spell check text input boxes - such as the message box where you type your messages.

I figured I was inserting my foot about heel deep into the mouth on that one

Dang. It felt good dreaming that for a moment. B4C or 1LE is nowhere to be found on my RPO.

Re: Information on the "1LE"

If you read it right, that quote is correct, it's just not very clear.
If G92 and no-A/C were ordered = 1LE.
If G92 and A/C were ordered = Not 1LE.

If you want to know if a car is a 1LE, start with the easy stuff... Does the car have air conditioning? Generally speaking, if the car has air conditioning, it's not a 1LE. The exceptions are B4C Camaro RS of which some came with the large front brakes with dual pistons which triggered the 1LE rpo code.

The second thing to check are the front brakes. The single piston calipers are cast iron, the 1LE dual piston calipers are aluminum. Rusty calipers with single pistons indicate the car isn't a 1LE.
