another RPO question
I've looked on the driver's door, behind the glove pouch on the passenger's side dash board, and inside the locking compartment in the hatchback. On the driver's door is the only indication that the RPO sticker was there. All that's left is a square of dirt. Neither of the other 2 places had any trace of a sticker ever being applied there.
So my question is... is there a way to find out what was originally installed on my car when it left the factory, or am I pretty much on my own. My plan, for now, is to *try* to restore the car, with little or no customization. Might sound boring to some of you, but I like the way these cars looked.

Re: another RPO question
Cool, Drew. Thank you. Unfortunately, I just went to check, and again, all that's there is an outline of dirt where the glue used to hold the sticker. It's pretty much a lost cause, isn't it?
I saw in other threads that a dealership can look up VIN numbers. I'll probably have to go that route.

Re: another RPO question
Unless it's a Canadian vehicle, you likely won't have any luck that avenue either as a 1986 won't likely be in the dealerships database. The only option you have would be to order an invoice from PHS.

Re: another RPO question
JT, from what I found out by looking up the VIN, the car was built in California. So... PHS, you said? I'll check that out. Thank you.

Re: another RPO question
All ThirdGens were built in Van Nuys, California or Norwood, Ohio up through 1987, then all were built in Van Nuys from 1988-1992. Canadian exports came from both plants, as I see the compnine database shows a few hundred of 1986 Trans Ams have the Z49 RPO while a few thousand came from Norwood.
That said, here's PHS' website:

Re: another RPO question
I finally broke down and ordered the information from PHS for my 1985 Trans Am. It is a well optioned car (or at least it appears to be) and I wanted the information on it. My 1987 Trans Am on the other hand is nearly a base model T/A. It has the UQ7 sub-woofer/speaker package, the cargo area privacy shade, and the overhead console and that's damn near it for options.
