it has quite a few 3rd gens.

it has what the VINs mean, some information, it even has options and the costs!

additionally it has a scale of 1(Excellent) to 6(Parts car) and the prices for each!
for example

i agree. in late summer 2008 scrap metal was worth $0.11 a pound. a 3000lbs car was worth $330 and thats straight to the crusher.

If you feel up to the task, go to town, put the price info up... make a note of when the publication was released, its fun to follow... I have some information from 2000, and 1990 that I refer to for trends...

1982 Camaro Z28 Indy Pace Car (5.0L Crossfire V-8)

Camaro Z28 - Series 1F - V-8:

An All-new Camaro arrived late in the 1982 model year. it was still a rearwheel drive car, but it was lighter in weight. Cherolet said the new camaro "captures the essence of the contemporary American performance expression."

It featured an aerodynamic shape and aircraft inspired interior and weight some 470 lbs less than in 1981. The all-new fastback body was nearly 10 inches shorter than that of the previous Camaro It rode on a seven-inch shorter 101-inch wheelbase. The Camaro had a new lift-up hatchback window. A hatch release lock was located behind the license plate.

Standard equipment included a four=speed manual transmission, power brakes, power steering, a front stabilizer bar, dual black sport mirrors, a black windshield molding, concealed windshield wipers, reclining front bucket seats and a day/night mirror. the Z28 front end had no upper grille opening and its ground effects air dams reached nearby to the ground. It also had operating air inlets.

Four-wheel disk brakes were available. for an extra $611, Z28 buyers could even order an optional Lear-Siegler "Conteur" seat with six adjustments. a six-way power seat was optional. Z28s rode on special five-spoke aluminum wheels with gold or charcoal accents. The suspension added a link-type rear stabilizer bar.

Other Standard equipment included P215/65R15 white-letter tires, a rear stabilizer bar, a specially-tuned suspension, dual mufflers and tailpopes, body-color sport mirrors, a front air dam, a ground effects rocker molding area and a rear deck spoiler. twin air scoops adorned the special Z28 hood.

It could also have an optional Cross-Fire injected 305-cid V-8 rated at 165 hp. That version carried a Cross-Fire injection decal elow the Z28 badge just behind the front wheel housing.

A total of 6,3060 Indy 500 Commemorative editions of the Z28 were built this year, marking the use of the new Camaro Z28 as the year's "Official Pace Car" for the Indy 500. All of the indy Pace Car replicas sold to the public had Silber Blue Metallic finish, Indy 500 Logos, red-accented silver aluminum wheels and Goodyear Eagle GT white-letter tires.


VIN

Camaros again had a 17-symbol Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
First Symbol identified country of origin 1= USA 2=Canada
Second Symbol identified the manufacturer G= General Motors
Third indicated the make: 1=Chevrolet and 7=GM of Canada
Fourth Symbol indicated the restraint system: A=non-passive manual belts and B=Passive automatic belts
Fifth indicated the car line/series: P=Camaro.
Sixth and Seventh indicated the body type: 87=two-door plain black special coupe.
Eighth indicated the engine type 7=RPO LB9 5.0-liter V-8 with Crossfire fuel injection
Ninth was a check digit
Tenth indicated model year C=1982
Eleventh indicated assembly plant: L=Van Nuys, California N=Norwood Ohio
The final six digits were the sequential serial numbers

Vehicle Condition Scale

1. Excellent: Restored to current maximum professional standards of quality in every area, or perfect original with components operating and appearing as new. A 95-plus point show car that is not driven.

2. Fine: Well-restored or a combination of superior restoratoin and excellent original parts. Also, an exremely well-maintained original vehicle showing minimal wear

3. Very Good: Completely operable original or older restoration. Also, a good amateur restoration, all presentable and serviceable inside and out. PLus, a combination of well-done restoration and good operable components or a partially resrored car with all parts necessary to complete and/or valuable NOS parts.

4. Good: A Driveable vechicle needing no or only minor work to be functional. Also, a deteriorated restoration or a very poor amaeur restoration. All components may need restoration to be "excellent," but the car is mostly useable "as is"

5. Restorable: Needs complete restoration of body, chassis and interior. May or may not be running, but isnt weathered, wrecked or stripped to the point of being useful only for parts.

6. Parts car: May or may notbe running, but is weathered, wrecked and/pr stripped to the point of being useful primarily for parts.
