I would Like some advice on wether or not to get a 52 mm throttle body or not? I have read about people losing throttle response. I have pictures on how to run the true dual exhaust but i would like to know a good set of mufflers (i plan on no cats)? I would also appreciate any input on any of the parts listed above or if anyone has attempted to do this build before. I understand for the price of my build i could have a good 350 but I want to make the best N/A 305 I can for 10,000 or less (this price includes 1500-2500 in paint and 500 for sound). So essentially I have at least 7000 to spend on parts. I understand that 1990's camaro's are rare and I don't know if it would be best to get a second 305 so that the stock engine is "unmolested". If I am keeping all the parts that are removed off the engine will that be enough to retain the value? Open to all idea's. Thankx

Re: 1990 Camaro RS (project redline?)
I'm doing a similar project on my car which sounds identical to yours ('90 RS, 305 tbi auto). Here's what I found so far.
There are a lot of little parts that you'll probably want to replace on the engine as long as you're tearing it that far apart. Things like the timing chain and gears, water pump, belt, hoses, maybe some decorative pieces like the timing chain cover if your stock one is all rusted (mine was), all the gaskets will need to be replaced, probably need new taller valve covers, new motor mounts, might need a new clutch and flywheel resurfaced (not sure what comes with the setup from hawks), new distributor cap and rotor.. I'd throw at least another $500 to $1000 in your budget for miscellaneous motor parts.
What about the rest of the car? Suspension parts, gearing, brake lines, bearings, bushings.. Its not going to be any fun to drive the car if it handles like crap or is squeaking/bouncing down the road! How about the interior and door/window seals? Also don't forget to budget for tools you might need to buy or rent. Like an engine hoist and/or stand, floor jack, stands, torque wrench, impact wrench (makes things a lot easier!)..
I wouldn't worry about preserving the engine you have.. Its a stock L03, there isn't anything special about it. Same with the car, although they did make less of the 1990 model year than other years there isn't anything special or more desirable about it compared to any other year. Build it how you want it and enjoy it.

Re: 1990 Camaro RS (project redline?)
Well the reason this car is even getting build this way is because i have a healthy inheritance coming and I figure keeping the car under 10k means that i won't lose too much if i ever resell it(doubt it). I personally am not going to get to build some things on this car because my right arm muscles are messed up from an accident and I just don’t have the tools. Some pieces like the cam kit will need to be done at a shop. What is nice is i will have access to all the tools necessary to do what i can do on this car available.
I don't remember the distributor type so that is why a new one is not listed. I also appreciate the water pump I forgot that to be honest. I didn’t think about the mounts for the engine either. The timing gears and chain are covered in the set I am getting. I do plan on doing new hoses and belt even though they are in good condition. I am still planning this build and working out what i should and should not do. I have pretty much priced out to build this with a stock bottom end.
I also have a solid list of parts that I need to complete the car. It includes dome light cover, new abs headliner, new gauges and other pieces missing from the car. I am not sure of all the pieces like I may drop the t-5 and stick with the auto for now or go without the wheels.
Other un-necessary pieces include the 500 budget for the stereo. I am going to examine the suspension parts as i go and replace with better than stock parts.
I am curious with the build that popular hot rodding did they showed a about a 150 horse gain and about 100 ft lb of torque. Will I need a better drive train? I have never done a build like this before. I don’t want to get on a ¼ or 1/8 mile track and blow the rear or snap an axel or break a u-joint you know?
If you want I would love to talk with you more feel free to email me anytime.
(endofheartach18@aol.com) Also if you know of good distributor, mounts, timing cover, valve covers , water pump anything let me know I am really open to any help. Thank you again
hope to talk soon
