More AC help please!

The evaporator in my 89 IROC has been open and just sitting there for years. Now I'm preparing to reinstall the AC system with R134 and new parallel flow condenser. My questions are:

1 Is it possible to clean the evaporator without removing it?

2 How do I do this?

3 Would it be better to install a new one?

Thanks.

Re: More AC help please!

get some ac flush, if you dont have a flush gun you can just pour it in, then force the flush through with compressed air, though your supposed to use nitrogen instead of air. just make sure you vacuum real good to remove the moisture.

Not much to do with History / Restoration, but if this was posted in . . .
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/cooling/
. . . you may get more responses.

Good luck.

Re: More AC help please!

restoring AC system. Cooling has to do with engine cooling.

Re: More AC help please!

Just trying to help. What you're doing is more of a conversion issue than restoration. If you try a search in the cooling section for "AC", you'll get well over 200 posted topics on the subject of air conditioning. A search for air conditioning will yield many more posts. If you take a look, there's a lot more there than engine cooling. Good evidence that you will get some good responses.

As the topic header states, ". . . all of the aspects of cooling that you can think of!"
