Technically Correct Original Oil Filter - '91 RS Camaro 305
Anyone happen to know the part number for the oil filter that would have come on a '91 RS 305 from the factory?
Thought it was just a PF25, but was talking with a judge at Carlisle yesterday and he mentioned it should be matte black, with a sliver GM Delco sticker...
Probably end up just painting and restickering a white or blue PF25 before the next show, but would be nice to know what the original was, and where to find it.
Thanks

PF-25 would be the correct part number. The matte black/silver label that he's referring to is probably the correct finish, which I think was changed to the current dark blue in the mid to late 90s.
At any rate, the PF-25 is no longer made, they've now sandwiched all earlier small blocks and big blocks together on what was formerly the big block-only filter (PF-454). Although it's a little shorter than the PF-25, The PF-454 works fine, and it's all that's readily available now for these cars, although it's not technically correct.

Hrm.
Does anyone have an original PF-25 with the dark finish? Mind posting some pictures, so I can go about replicating one - or anyone have one for sale? :P
Getting the car 'Bowtie' restored before moving on to modifications, so in 10-15 years when it starts to get 'collectable' I can bring it back to factory, for shows and such.

I'm impressed that a judge at Carlisle would even know what filter a thirdgen came with. Usually the guys that judge the thirdgen classes are all first-gen guys and openly admit that they don't know squat about thirdgens. It's good to see that kind of knowledge from a thirdgen class judge.
