What racing series existed in 1992 for our cars?
I've decided to turn my 1992 GTA into a race car in light of my addident. I don't want any race car though, I want an actual vintage race car. I want to decide what racing series I want it to be based on them get ahold of an actual rule book from that year and build the car to exact specs so it would be 100% legal for that race series.
So, the first step in my process is to find out exactly what racing series existed in 1992 that our cars were permitted to complete in and I need your help! I was only 12 so I don't remember
Country doesn't really matter to me either, Canadian, American, Euro, etc. I know there was Players, SCCA, IMSA, and Trans Am, I think anyway lol.
What are some others? If any of you were to take a production car and build it for any series of that era, which would you choose and why?
Thanks!!!
Alex

Why don't you build it to race in the Camaro-Mustang Challenge? That way you can actually race it economically against a healthy field of cars like yours.
It sounds to me like you'd probably be better off creeping up to that by running some autoX, time attack, or HPDE since I'm guessing you are just getting interested in road racing.
That is what I am doing now with a cheap Camaro I recently purchased. That way if I trash it I am not out that much cash. It's a lot more fun when you aren't nervous about things like that. I have a drag car and it is nerve racking every time I race since I have so much time and money invested in it.

That's what I meant when I said IMSA, but couldn't remember the full name. IMSA Firehawk series, thanks!
I don't wish to do anything new or current because I'm not looking to complete just have fun. Plus I would enjoy the challenge of doing a replica vintage race car and having something unique.
