92 Trans Am Convertible Jade Green Production

Does anyone happen to know the number of Jade Green '92 Trans Am Convertibles were produced? I know there were around 660 92 Convertibles but wanted to get a little more specific with the numbers for my color. Also, wasn't their another name for the Jade Green?

If you know or know who I might ask it would be appreciated! Thanks!

Re: 92 Trans Am Convertible Jade Green Production

I don't know the numbers, but back in 2001 when I found my Jamaica Yellow Convertible I was told I could call "Pontaic Cares" which I think was 1 800 Pontiac and their customer service folks would look up the info. I called them and got the build info, by color and option for my 96 TA WS.6. They did not have the by option info for the 92 but did provide me with color build numbers for my Jamaica Yellow 92 Convertible (37 built).

No doubt they would have had the info for each color, but now that Pontiac is gone I'm not sure who you call. Maybe there is a generic GM number you can try. BTW, just tried the 1-800 Pontiac number and it does not ring.

Another option is to go to Pontiac Historical Services. Along with some build info they can get a copy of the build sheet, order info and for a few dollars more you can get a reproduction window sticker. When I got my packet 5 years ago they did not include by color info, but may have it now....either way, it's good data to have if you plan to keep the car. PHS can be found at http://www.phs-online.com/

Hope this helps,
John

Now I'm sure someone will jump in and correct me if I'm wrong... But, last I heard PHS wasn't doing the later thirdgen Pontiacs. Back when they did, they didn't have production numbers for options or colors...

You could try calling PHS but I wouldn't hold your breath.

I have a packet from PHS on my 92 Trans Am and received it back about 5-6 years ago. What you get from PHS includes the dealer order info for your specfic car, your specfic build sheet, Generic model year info and for an extra fee a reproduction window sticker.

For me the only build info they provided was my car was one of 663 1992 TA Convertibles (which I already knew) and no info by option or color. Not sure if they have that info today or not.....seems I hear they have more info now, so it may be worth a call.

In the end, I Agree, it would be worth calling if your interest is mainly build numbers by color and option to make sure before you buy. That siad, I love having the build data and window sticker for my car...it's part of the puzzle.

Hope this clearifies.

Tnxs,
John

I ordered the packet on my 91 Formula back in 99 or 2000. It doesn't sound like the contents have changed in the years since. A few years back they did offer their service for later model Pontiacs, but the last I heard, they now have a cut off somewhere between 82-92. The only way to know for sure would be to give them a call.

Re: 92 Trans Am Convertible Jade Green Production

Drew is correct that PHS no longer does the later ThirdGens. Instead GM Archive would have the information. I have PHS packet for my 1992 T/A Convertible, from a few years ago when PHS was still doing it, and it sounds the same content as John describes. Though I'm not sure I understand what the "your specfic build sheet" is?

I think the answer to this question could be answered with Compnine. They show all 663 1992 - Trans AM Convertibles in their database and thus should have the correct information. However, their service is currently offline.

compnine is online, but I see they changed the site to allow access to only a couple VIN checks. I just put in for a 93 Pace car and then selected certain options. I was able to do the option thing 2x and now the website states, "Everything in moderation. Check back later for additional searches or contact us for unlimited access"

The direct link to plugging in RPO codes for a given year and model is still showing " We're updating this page. Please try back in a few hours. " which it has been for a few days now. That is the source that would be able to answer this type of question.

Re: 92 Trans Am Convertible Jade Green Production

Thanks a ton guys, I found my answer. Their were 30 made that year in that color. I went to compnine.com and clicked on the link for VIN Decoder/RPO finder. That brought me to a page where I could input my VIN# and get a breakdown of production numbers by different options.

I also did a search on our 96 Trans Am and it showed the different options however, it did not give production numbers. I believe this is because all data has not been entered yet as this is a Beta version.

Thanks for all the help!

By the way PHS got back with me on an e-mail I sent them about it and they said that any Pontiac newer than 1987 is now handled by a company called Allied-Vaughn and their direct line is 734-462-5543 Ext. 163

Allied Vaughn is the one that does the ThirdGens now. However its not like PHS back in the day. They only provide the factory invoice. Cost is $50. PHS was nice and provided more stuff in the packet but it wasn't specific to the car.

Does that include a 92 ws6 GTA. I'd like to know some of the build numbers you found.

You may want to check the GTASource page for that, Frankie has the breakdowns of the GTA production numbers there.

Re: 92 Trans Am Convertible Jade Green Production

I wonder where PHS cuts off now...I just got the complete package for my 86 back in June. Cool stuff...but its too bad he gives less now than he did years back. In 2002 my dad got a PHS kit for his 02 Formula and it broke it down so far that we know his Formula is 1 of 901 Formulas, and 1 of 34 in Sunset Orange.

Cool stuff...
