1987 Base Camaro with IROC suspension
i was wondering if any buddy had any information about the 1987 camaro test that was built in Calif. As i was working on my 2.8 i noticed somethings that ur not normal for the 2.8. It as the iroc suspention and interior. I called the owner of the car before me and he did tell me that this is a real test car. The car is all factory. The car is about 2500 pounds lighter than my 1987 iroc z. If anyone has any specs on the car would love to know. This car is too quick for ur stock 2.8.

If this car is 2500 lbs lighter than your Iroc it must have been made out of some super carbon fiber or some new light weight titanium! I see why it is so quick and must be a test car. It wouldn't be safe to be driven on public roads unless it has a roll bar and 1LE brakes! My 2 cents worth.

Second, it sounds like someone fed you a bunch of
... As a general rule, r&d test mules weren't sold to the general public, when GM was done with them they were destroyed since they weren't emissions certified. An average Iroc weighs about 3400-3600lbs, so 2500lbs lighter would be a 1000lb car. Even econo-boxes weigh more then that. Stop trolling.

First, if you're going to ask a new question that really has nothing to do with a pre-existing thread, just start a new thread. Otherwise you're hijacking the thread and you probably won't even get an answer.

With all that said, were not talking about nuts or bolts, or a special paint code. If you post your SPID sheet it may answer some questions for you. For example if the car came from the factory with the FE2 suspension then your SPID should show FE2, and without the Z28 option then that may be an unusual find.
Also keep in mind that there was some cars in 1987 that got the RS badges, there is really little known (by me) what the RS entailed in 1987, it may be special suspension, but I suspect not. I do want to think it came with the ground effects however like the Z28/IROC.
SHow me a SPID in your center console, it will answer almost all questions.

This time I won't be in such a joking manner like I was above. If your car is one of the few 1987 RS models that got built with a V-6 and was only for California sales it will have the RPO Z5C on its SPID. I also think they came with the Z-28 steering wheel and not the sport coupe style steering wheel.
