Rear end code metal tag reproduced?

Hi everyone,

Is there anyone out there who reproduces the metal ratio tag that attaches to the rear end housing via a cover bolt on some third gens? If not, this may be a good item for someone who has access to metalworking equipment to start producing.

AFAIK, the cover bolt tag only indicated limited slip (reproduced already) and the ratio code was stamped in an axle tube.

Depends on your rear end ... the BW 9 bolt have tags for both and as far as I'm aware they have not been reproduced ... been after the larger of the two for some time ... see https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/engi...89-bw-9-a.html

Re: Rear end code metal tag reproduced?

Quoting the GM bulletin I have, "Divisional Manufacturer code letters will be metal stamped on the axle tube adjacent to the carrier for field identification. Metal stamped on right front inboard side letters and numerals 1/4" high, 3" outboard of carrier or are located on a metal tag attached to cover bolt". I wonder why they used two different methods?

Where can I purchase a limited slip tag either original or repro?
