History / Originality Got a question about 1982-1992 Camaro or Firebird history? Have a question about original parts, options, RPO codes, when something was available, or how to document your car? Those questions, answers, and much more!

I have a question/want advice.

I have a question/want advice.

I have just acquired an '89 IROC-Z Camaro. (It contains the 5.7 350 Engine.)

First question I have is where would the RPO sticker be located?
It has no glove box and there is only a Service Parts Identification sticker in the center console. (I would like to check if it is an 1LE.)

Its been sitting in a garage for 8 years, so we went over today and did some maintenance work on it. Then got it to run. I'm going back during this week to get it registered and inspected then i will be able to drive it home.

The black/white sticker on the inside wall of the center console that you found is what others refer to as the "RPO" sticker as it contains a list of all RPOs for that vehicle.

1LE is the RPO code. If 1LE is not on the sticker, it's not a 1LE.

Please be sure to browse this History/Restoration forum as a lot of information is already present.

Good luck.

You can also look up all the codes to see what car originally was. There are a few sites for it. Tells you what gears you have, what options, etc. It can be overwhelming. My sticker has about 100 codes, but it was fun to see what my car was born as for it has changed a lot since 1985

There are only a few sites that can do this accurately, and those sites are usually restricted to anything 1990 and newer unless the vehicle is Canadian. The rest of the sites floating around have been grossly incorrect because they give basic options based on the prefix of the VIN and not specific options based on the actual VIN.
