84 z28, with clock in center cosole?

I recently came across an 84 z28, with a clock in the center console, I have never seen this before and, after doing some research, I think it is rare. Anybody know anything about this?

The console clock was available from 82-85.I installed one in both of my Irocs and have about 8 of them packed away in a box

Re: 84 z28, with clock in center cosole?

The console clock (RPO-U35) was standard from '82-'83 on the Berlinetta and included with the Z28 package '82-'85. They were generally deleted when the digital radios w/clock was ordered. My '83 Z28 is an oddball since she has both the digital radio w/clock and the console clock (that still works). I've bought a couple spares that work just in case.

82 = 14,166
83 = 1,992
84 = 1,840
85 = 809

Re: 84 z28, with clock in center cosole?

Kinda one of those options that shouldn't be desirable, but kinda turned out that way anyways. Like someone said, cars that didn't have the base stereo didn't get them since analog clocks were considered out of style back then, but today it's the opposite. Many modern expensive luxury cars have now gone back to analog clocks because since digital clocks are considered cheesy now. Weird.

OT I know, but GM did a similar thing with the Corvettes and other cars; all 1981-82 Corvettes had an oil temp gauge in place of the clock in the center instrument cluster if a digital display radio was ordered. Additionally, I have seen a few early 1977-90 Caprices with analog clocks between the front dash vents when not ordered with a digital display radio.
