1983 trans daytona pace car help! 5 spd

Hey guys, I just had my pace drivable after 3 yrs of working on it. Then on my way home from work someone pulled out in front of me then crash. It was my dream car The front is crushed and the unibody has been folded under impact plus the fr left quarter panel. Insurance is going to pay for it.

My question.
How much should money should I get for repairs?
Should it be considered totaled bc of unibody fold?
If my car is daytona pace car 5spd and only 500 made should the money be increased for rarity?
Do I have pace car? VIN:1G2AW87H6DN218227

Thanks for response and help. My first crash in my dream car, my heart is broken.

Re: 1983 trans daytona pace car help! 5 spd

I might be wrong, but I thought the pace cars were all HO or CFI cars... The HO would have had the M5 trans, the CFI had the Auto. I might be wrong, but for some reason I did not know that the LG4 was available... it may have been, but I find it interesting.

The reason I go thru that is you have an H in your VIn, which would indicate the LG4 4bbl Base V8 from 1982-1987

The '83 Daytona Trans Ams had the LG4 or LU5.

Thanks for setting me straight. I was wondering, just not sure... it would have seemed that they would have been better equipped being a special edition, but I guess back in the 80's it was all about selling cars.

Thanks

Here's another Daytona Pace car which was involved in an accident....Personally, I wouldnt want a repaired car if the unibody was badly damaged in an accident.

Thx for replies but I need answers to my questions. My insurance is going to call me and I need to seem like I know what I'm talking about.

While I don't have a direct answer for you, the only time rarity comes into play is when the car is in pristine condition. That would allow for the value to be greater than a standard Trans Am. If the condition of your '83 is the same as most other '83 Trans Ams, it won't be any more valuable than book value.

Daytona's didn't get the HO motor due to them being built early in the year because of the race. HO motor didn't come out until later 1983 and a 1983 T/A with the HO motor is rare also.
