Does anyone know what the letter at the end of a color code means?
For example, goldwing metallic could be 55p or 55m. I am trying to find out the correct color for Recaro Trans Am Turbocast rims.

 

Pearl or metalliac (maybe)

 

55P would be for wheels... Some things:
The first two digits of the RPO indicates the color.

The last character indicates the component:
A= Body Accent Stripe
B= Cloth Interior Trim
C= Cloth Interior Trim
D= Cloth Interior Trim
E= Cloth Interior Trim
F= Covering Floor Mat, Color
G= Cloth Interior Trim
H= Cloth Interior Trim
I= NA (Interior Trim)
J= Cloth Interior Trim
K= ?
L= lower (Secondary) Paint
M= ?
N= Interior Trim Combination
O= NA
P= Wheel Color
Q= Molding Color
R= ?
S= ?
T= T-Top Color
U= Upper (Primary) Paint
V= All Vinyl interior Trim
W= All Vinyl interior Trim
X= ?
Y= All Vinyl interior Trim
Z= All Vinyl interior Trim
1= Interior Trim
2= Leather with Articulating Seats
3= Leather
4= Leather
5= Leather
6= Leather

8= Cloth Interior Trim

Were the wheels sprayed with the same type of paint as the car? It always appeared to me that the rims did not have as much of a shine as the car, but the rims were grimy so kind of hard to tell for sure.

 

The wheel paint is supposedly more durable, so it does not chip as easily, one thing about more durable paints, sometimes the additives they use cause the paint to appear more dull. Also spraying into the small crevices, and spaces often is difficult to balance between getting a good shine and running the paint with the clear coat...
