Car is coming along nicely. A lot of work though to get there. Really interested in how it will look and run when you're done.

Yah not to bad started cleaning up the clear coat with 1500 almost half way. Then cut n buff it. Not much luck on a trans yet. Couple leads though.

Re: 84 Trans Am Restore Thread

Well i figured I needed to do an update after a frustrating day working in the garage. We are having a little starter snafu. I have found a world class t5 out of a 89 firebird that is now bolted into the car. We broke two bellhousings before we figured out we had two pilot bushing in place. So after we fixed that everything was going smooth then we had to drill and tap the cross member bolts for the trans. Engine was in today we go to prime the oil pump and we couldn't get the starter to engage properly. We have been putting in a lot of time lately between the engine and the paint. Once we get the engine running we just have to reassemble fenders, headlights and front bumpers then buff the clear to get rid of some imperfections. Getting very close even with all the little bumps in the road we keep hitting. I got some pics for all those who take a peek for the pics.

Re: 84 Trans Am Restore Thread

a few more pics I wish I had the time to document how we have done everything. We modified the ash tray into a place for a small gauge cluster for a volt meter, oil pressure and engine temp. Looks pretty neat, I forgot to take a pic though.

Re: 84 Trans Am Restore Thread

P.S. My Hedman Headers were a B*%ch to line up with the exhausts pipes let me tell ya lol. Theres no room in that engine bay. It seems like there is so much room when you drop that engine in but it crowds up very quick. The 454 and 455 swaps must have some extreme modifications in order to make everything fit.

Re: 84 Trans Am Restore Thread

I have finally drove the car around for the past few wks. She runs pretty smooth. I had to replace the struts and shocks and even had to pull the rear end apart and change the inner and outer pinion bearings. I hope to get it inspected this week after I repair the parking brakes. It's crazy to think when I drive this car and realize the amount of time, money and sweat that went into putting this car together. And the greatest feeling is that I did the majority of the work out of love for this automobile. It's a great feeling seeing something you did so much work on come to fruition. Can't wait to get everything buttoned down so I can cruise around and look nice at the same time haha.
