Hi guys I'm not new to this board but I rarely post because of one reason, I don't own a third gen yet. I've always loved these cars but everytime I'm about to get one it slips thru my fingers. Well today I was looking for a firebird I could work on during the winter and I came across a sliver blue metallic 89 formula with red and gold stripes under the formula decal. This is only the 2nd formula I seen in this color combo and I would like to kno any info on this color combo like how many were made and ect. Thanks

The 1989 Data is NA, unless you have a Canadian Firebird...

Honestly there are a few of the "Maui Blue" / Silver Formulas out there... I had a Maui Blue 1991 that I liked.. no silver stripe tho...

I want to think that from 1988 - 1990 all of the Firebirds in the Maui Blue had the Silver stripe.

honestly I would look for a 1989 Formula 350 before I get hung up on the color, unless of course you really like the color. I am assuming that it is not a 350 car as you did not specify it in your post.

The color is called Maui Blue and it was offered from '88-91. The two tone with the stripes (and lower gray paint treatment) that you describe was offered from '88-90 (solid was also available). A '91 should be one solid color.

Sadly I don't think there's a way to determine how many Firebirds were made in what color, like there is with Camaros. FWIW, I can tell you from personal memory that the combo you describe wasn't that rare. I remember seeing it quite a bit back when the cars were new, though solid Maui was more commonly seen.

 

yea i love that color combo but sadly the car is not a 350.

 

I ordered my 89 with 2-tone DELETE. saved $100, and I think it looks cleaner mono tone.
