I just inherited my dads 85 iroc-z, i believe it has a LG4 with an A4. Its in great shape, has 78,000 original miles (mostly highway) and definitely never beat on. It was never properly prepared for storage. Now it hasnt been started for maybe around 5-7 years. What will be necessary before trying to start it, like what do i need to do? What are some problems i could be facing? Is there a possibility that the engine is ceased ?

You need to drain the gas from the tank, change the oil, give it a tune up (plugs, wires, cap and rotor). I would also flush the radiator but thats not as critical as changing the oil and draining the gas tank.
Plan on new tires soon too because the ones on there now will most likely be dry rotted and will have flat spots.

it will either turnover or it wont...you will know pretty quickly if its seized

 

Remove the sparkplugs and squirt some WD-40 in the holes and let it soak.

wd40 is OK but i would use "fogging oil". i do this to my elcamino each year when i store it. wd40 has other chemicals in it besides lubricant that displace water (that's what the wd stands for "water displacement") you can get foggin oil at any hardware store.. like true value. more info at the link....

if you can't find it just shoot some regular motor oil in there.... it'll smoke when you start it but it will go away.

also, don't forget to look at the brakes.... and tires can start to dry rot in as few as 7 years, so check them too.
